Step 1: Adapter in the car into the OBD2 interface

Plug the autoSense adapter into the OBD2 interface of your vehicle. Depending on the make and model, the interface is located under the steering wheel or in the pedal area. Here you can find the OBD2 slot in your car. If autoSense is connected correctly, the LED lamp on the adapter will light up constantly red (or orange-red when the engine is switched on; after 5 minutes the light will go out or may flash). To ensure that the GPS signal is received optimally, we recommend that you install the adapter outside the garage.

Step 2a: Download the app

To connect the adapter or your vehicle to your mobile phone, you only need the autoSense app from the App Store or the Google Play Store. After downloading the app, start it and follow the simple installation instructions.

Step 2b: Download and activation via SMS

If you have ordered the adapter via our website or received it from one of our partners, an SMS will be sent to your registered mobile phone number after successful installation of your adapter. This SMS contains a direct download link as well as a 9-digit activation code that you can use when registering in the app. If you do not have a code or have forgotten your code, our support team will be happy to help you.

Step 3: Create your autoSense account

After entering the activation code, you will need a secure password for your account. You will then be logged in automatically every time you open the app on your mobile phone.

Step 4: Enter the chassis number

If you have not already done so when ordering the adapter, you should enter the chassis number (VIN) in order to be able to use the autoSense app optimally. You can find the VIN in your vehicle registration document and in various places on your vehicle frame: It can be on the door frame, in the engine compartment, in the boot, on the dashboard, in the driver's door or on the driver's side under the windscreen. If you can't find them, our support team will be happy to help you.

Last step: Accepting the terms and conditions

In the last step we would like to ask you to accept the terms and conditions of autoSense and of our pre-installed service partners. Please note that the protection of your data is very important to us and we leave it up to you to decide which data you are willing to share. When selecting an additional partner service, you will always be asked beforehand which data you would like to share.

Planning to sell your car?

Simply take the adapter with you when changing cars !

Whenever a autoSense customer changes cars, the adapter can easily be taken along and thus the entire previous trip history can be retained.

Simply customize in the app:

1. unplug the adapter in the old car and plug it into the OBD port in the new car.

2. open app and click "install in other car" under My Car.

3. drive off and recalibrate.
