"What can't be missing on a road trip? Good music & coffee."
Nadja Albrecht took part in our raffle for a petrol voucher last spring and actually won. When she handed over her prize, she told us something about herself. We found Nadja and her plan to drive the "Grand Tour of Switzerland" with her camper so inspiring that we asked her some more questions.
Please tell us something about yourself and how you came to do a tour through Switzerland with your camper?
I am 30 years old, a teacher and have owned a VW T5 California since December 2019. With it, I have fulfilled a small dream.
My travel plans were somewhat thwarted by Corona and I decided to stay in Switzerland for the time being. For my 30th birthday last January, I received the book for the "Grand Tour of Switzerland" from friends and used the spring holidays to start it.
What was / is your route through Switzerland?
My goal is to ride exactly along the route of the "Grand Tour of Switzerland". This can also be found at https://grandtour.myswitzerland.com/de/
In spring, the route took me from Kloten to Schaffhausen, Stein am Rhein, Jakobsbad, Wildhaus, Werdenberg, Chur, Savognin, Andeer and back again.
What should not be missing on a road trip?
Good music and coffee.
Were you able to take away insights from the first part of your Tour de Suissethat you will implement for the summer?
When you drive on country roads, everything is somehow decelerated. Holidays are for enjoying, I can take my time. You also discover much more than when you're on the motorway. It also saves fuel :)
How does autoSense help you plan and evaluate your road trip?
I find it very exciting to look at the timeline after a stretch of road to see exactly where I went. This is also interesting when I tell others about the trip. I also like to make photo albums of my trips. Maybe there is a place for a screenshot from the Timeline.
The consumption during the journey is also always very interesting to follow.
I'm also curious to see what insights the new "driveScore" feature will give me on my next trip.
Are there any other autoSense features and services that are used on your tour?
I find very practical with Refuel the app. It's also super easy to find petrol stations and navigate to them. If I'm ever on foot, it's very handy to be able to call up the location of the vehicle. The tamper alarm also gives you a feeling of security.
What does it mean to you to be on the road with a camper?
For me it is complete deceleration, switching off from everyday life. It doesn't matter whether it's for a week or just an afternoon, whether it's far away or in my parents' garden: I can switch off completely and see this as a great privilege that I enjoy very much.
What are your plans for the future? Do you have other projects planned with the camper?
I'm looking forward to going abroad again soon. A dream would be to go to Scotland. Maybe I'll manage that next year. Otherwise, I'm very flexible wherever I go.
Thank you very much for this lovely interview, dear Nadja. The whole autoSense team wishes you good and safe travels with your camper and a wonderful time.
